Making an application16

An application must—
a
be made in writing on a form provided by the registration authority to which the application is to be made; and
b
be signed by, or by a representative of, every applicant who is an individual, and by the secretary or some other duly authorised officer of every applicant which is a body corporate or an unincorporated association.

Schedule 4 contains provisions which apply in relation to specific types of applications as to—
a
the circumstances in which an application is permitted or required to be made;
b
who may make the application; and
c
the matters which must be included in or which, subject to paragraph (3), must accompany the application.

An applicant is not required to include with an application a copy of any document specified in Schedule 4 if—
a
the registration authority issued the document, or was a party to the document; or
b
the document has been deposited with the registration authority in accordance with any enactment.
