Citation commencement and interpretation

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Supply of Information (Register of Deaths) (Northern Ireland) Order 2008 and shall come into force on 8th April 2008.

(2) In this Order “insurer” means a person who has permission under Part IV of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000(1) to effect or carry out contracts of insurance.

(3) The definition of insurer in paragraph (2) must be read with —

(a)section 22 of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000;

(b)any relevant order under that section; and

(c)Schedule 2 to the Act.

Revocation

2.  The Supply of Information (Register of Deaths) Regulations 2007(2) are revoked.

Disclosure of information

3.  The Registrar General for Northern Ireland may supply information contained in any register of deaths kept by the Registrar General to a person or body specified, or of a description specified, in the Schedule to this Order for use in the prevention, detection, investigation or prosecution of offences.
