The Children Act 2004 (Commencement No. 9) Order 2008

The Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 67(2) of the Children Act 2004(1):

Citation and interpretation

1.  This Order may be cited as the Children Act 2004 (Commencement No. 9) Order 2008.

Provisions coming into force

2.  Section 19 of the Children Act 2004 (lead member for children’s services) shall come into force on 21st March 2008.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This is the tenth Commencement Order made under the Children Act 2004 (“the Act”).

Article 2 brings into force on 21st March 2008 section 19 of the Act which requires each children’s services authority in England to designate one of their members as their “lead member for children’s services”.
