The Ministry of Defence Police (Committee) Regulations 2009

Coming into force
The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 1(5) of the Ministry of Defence Police Act 19871, makes the following Regulations:—
Citation commencement, extent and revocation1

These Regulations may be cited as the Ministry of Defence Police (Committee) Regulations 2009 and shall come into force on 28th July 2009.

The Ministry of Defence Police (Police Committee) Regulations 19952 are revoked.
The Committee2
There shall continue to be a Ministry of Defence Police Committee (“the Committee”) appointed by the Secretary of State for Defence (“the Secretary of State”) whose functions shall be—
1
to advise the Secretary of State on matters concerning the Ministry of Defence Police; and
2
to exercise any other functions conferred on it by regulations made under the Ministry of Defence Police Act 1987.
Membership of the Committee3
The members of the Committee shall be—
a
an independent external member appointed by the Secretary of State, who shall be the chairperson of the Committee;
b
a Police Adviser for England and Wales appointed by the Secretary of State;
c
a Police Adviser for Scotland appointed by the Secretary of State;
d
the Director General Human Resources and Corporate Services at the Ministry of Defence ;
e
the Director of Business Resilience at the Ministry of Defence;
f
three independent external members appointed by the Secretary of State;
g
an official from Defence Security at the Ministry of Defence, who shall be the Clerk to the Committee.
