EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES
These Regulations, made under section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972 (c.68), replace the provisions of Part 3 of the European Public Limited-Liability Company Regulations 2004 (S.I. 2004/2326) (“the 2004 GB Regulations”). They continue the implementation in Great Britain of Council Directive 2001/86/EC (O.J. L 294,10.11.2001, p.22) supplementing the Statute for a European Company (Council Regulation 2157/2001/EC: O.J L 294, 10.11.2001, p.1) with regard to the involvement of employees. The Regulations come into force on 1st October 2009.

PART 1INTRODUCTORY PROVISIONS
EC Directive and EC Regulation2

In these Regulations—
“the EC Directive” means Council Directive 2001/86/EC of 8 October 2001 supplementing the Statute for a European Company with regard to the involvement of employees4;
“the EC Regulation” means Council Regulation 2157/2001/EC of 8 October 2001 on the Statute for a European Company5.
