Article 2(1) of this Order brings into force on 1st March 2009 paragraph (a) of subsection (5) of section 159 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 which will enable the Secretary of State to make a scheme for the transfer of property from the National Biological Standards Board to the Health Protection Agency.
Article 2(2) of this Order brings into force section 159 in so far as it is not already in force and related consequential repeals. Section 159, in particular, abolishes the National Biological Standards Board and amends the Health Protection Agency Act 2004(1) in relation to the functions of the Health Protection Agency in relation to biological substances.
An impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no impact on the private or voluntary sectors is foreseen.
