This Order may be cited as The A19 Trunk Road (A19/A63 Junction at Barlby to A19/A63 Junction at Selby Crossroads) (Detrunking) Order 2009 and shall come into force on 31st March 2009.

In this Order—
i
all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway;
ii
“the plan” means the plan numbered HA 10/MP/100, marked “The A19 Trunk Road (A19/A63 Junction at Barlby to A19/A63 Junction at Selby Crossroads) (Detrunking) Order 2009”, signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Transport and deposited at Communities and Local Government, Deposited Document Services, Room F13, Ashdown House, St Leonards on Sea, Hastings, East Sussex, TN37 7GA;
iii
“principal road” as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is a principal road for the purposes of enactments and instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads and is also classified for the purpose of every other enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State; and
iv
“the trunk road” means the East of Snaith–Sunderland Trunk Road (A19).

The length of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a principal road as from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies the North Yorkshire County Council (who will become the highway authority responsible for that length) that the Order has come into force.
