1. This Order may be cited as The A19 Trunk Road (A19/A63 Junction at Barlby to A19/A63 Junction at Selby Crossroads) (Detrunking) Order 2009 and shall come into force on 31st March 2009.
2. In this Order—
(i)all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway;
(ii)“the plan” means the plan numbered HA 10/MP/100, marked “The A19 Trunk Road (A19/A63 Junction at Barlby to A19/A63 Junction at Selby Crossroads) (Detrunking) Order 2009”, signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Transport and deposited at Communities and Local Government, Deposited Document Services, Room F13, Ashdown House, St Leonards on Sea, Hastings, East Sussex, TN37 7GA;
(iii)“principal road” as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is a principal road for the purposes of enactments and instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads and is also classified for the purpose of every other enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State; and
(iv)“the trunk road” means the East of Snaith–Sunderland Trunk Road (A19).
3. The length of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a principal road as from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies the North Yorkshire County Council (who will become the highway authority responsible for that length) that the Order has come into force.

The length of the trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road is shown by broad black dashes on the plant and is situation from—
1. A19/A63 Junction at Barlby (marked `A' on the plan) to the A19/A63 Junction at Selby Crossroads (marked `B') on the plan) and measures approximately 0.11 km in length.
2. A19/A63 Junction at Selby (marked `C' on the plan) to a point North East of Magazine Road (Marked `D' on the plan and measures approximately 0.75 km in length.
(This note is not part of the Order)
The purpose of the Order is to authorise the Secretary of State to remove the trunk road status from the sections of trunk road described in the above schedule. The responsibility for the maintenance of these roads will pass to the local Highway Authority which is North Yorkshire County Council.
