It was subsequently amended by sections 38 and 46 of the Criminal Justice Act 1982 (c.48), in respect of England and Wales, and by sections 289F and 289G of the Criminal Procedure (Scotland) Act 1975 (c.21) (as inserted by section 54 of the Criminal Justice Act 1982) in respect of Scotland.

M3Section 96(11A) was inserted by paragraph 9(2)(a) of Schedule 4 to the European Communities Act 1972 (c.68). It was subsequently amended by section 2(1)(c) of the Road Traffic (Drivers' Ages and Hours of Work) Act 1976, and by sections 38 and 46 of the Criminal Justice Act 1982 in respect of England and Wales, and by sections 289F and 289G of the Criminal Procedure (Scotland) Act 1975 (as inserted by section 54 of the Criminal Justice Act 1982) in respect of Scotland. It was further amended by S.I. 1986/1457 and 2007/1819.
