The Secretary of State for Transport makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 61(1) and (2) of the Road Traffic Act 1988(1) and by virtue of the Department for Transport (Fees) Order 2009(2).
In accordance with section 195(2) of the Road Traffic Act 1988 he has consulted with such representative organisations as he thinks fit.
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Motor Cycles Etc. (Single Vehicle Approval) (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations 2009 and come into force on 3rd May 2009.
2.—(1) The Motor Cycles Etc. (Single Vehicle Approval) (Fees) Regulations 2003(3) are amended as follows.
(2) In the regulations specified in column (1) of the Table, for each amount specified in column (2) substitute the amount specified in column (3).

These Regulations amend the Motor Cycles Etc. (Single Vehicle Approval) (Fees) Regulations 2003 (“the 2003 Regulations”). Those Regulations prescribe the fees which are payable in connection with applications for a Minister’s Approval Certificate and appeals under the Motor Cycles Etc. (Single Vehicle Approval) Regulations 2003 (“the Approval Regulations”). The Approval Regulations allow motor cycles, mopeds and other specified vehicles to be approved in terms of their design, construction, equipment and marking.
Regulation 2(2) increases the fees prescribed by the 2003 Regulations. The increased fees are set out in the Table (with the percentage increase since the fees were last fixed shown in brackets).
