The Al-Qaida and Taliban (Asset-Freezing) Regulations 2010

Coming into force in accordance with regulation 1(1)
The Treasury make the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2(2) of, and paragraph 1A of Schedule 2 to, the European Communities Act 19721.
In accordance with paragraph 2(2) of Schedule 2 to the European Communities Act 1972, a draft of this instrument was laid before Parliament and approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament.
The Treasury are designated2 for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972 in relation to the prevention of terrorist financing.
These Regulations make provision for a purpose mentioned in section 2(2) of that Act and it appears to the Treasury that it is expedient for the reference to Annex I of Council Regulation (EC) No. 881/2002 of 27 May 20023 concerning certain restrictive measures directed against certain persons and entities associated with Usama bin Laden, the Al-Qaida network and the Taliban, to be construed as a reference to that Annex as amended from time to time.
