Except as specified in paragraph (2), the Secretary of State and the local authority may appoint inspectors for the purposes of enforcing these Regulations.

The Food Standards Agency may appoint inspectors for the purposes of enforcing Schedule 7 and paragraphs 1, 3 and 4 of Schedule 8 in relation to a slaughterhouse or cutting plant.

The appointment of an inspector (whether under paragraph (1) or (2)) may be limited to powers and duties specified in the appointment.
