CHAPTER 2MAXIMUM AMOUNTS OF LOANS

Students with reduced entitlement80.

(1)

Subject to Chapter 4 of this Part, the maximum amount of loan for living costs for which a student with reduced entitlement qualifies in respect of an academic year of a course other than the final year of a course that is not an intensive course is—

(a)

where the student does not qualify for a grant for living and other costs in relation to the academic year because of regulation 38(4)(a)—

(i)

for a student in category A, £1,744;

(ii)

for a student in category B, £3,263;

(iii)

for a student in category C or D, £2,324.

(b)

where the student does not qualify for a grant for living and other costs in relation to the academic year because of regulation 38(4)(b) or (6)—

(i)

for a student in category A, F1£1,761;

(ii)

for a student in category B, F2£3,295;

(iii)

for a student in category C, F3£2,807;

(iv)

for a student in category D, F4£2,347.

(c)

where the student, other than a 2009 or 2012 cohort student, applies for a loan for living costs and opts not to provide the information needed to calculate the household income an amount equal toXYmath where—

X is—

(i)

for a student in category A, F5£2,781;

(ii)

for a student in category B, F6£5,031;

(iii)

for a student in category C, F7£4,281;

(iv)

for a student in category D, F8£3,594;

Y is the amount specified in paragraph (3).

(d)

where a 2009 cohort student applies for a loan for living costs and opts not to provide the information needed to calculate the household income an amount equal toXYmath where—

X is—

(i)

for a student in category A, F9£2,790;

(ii)

for a student in category B, F10£5,037;

(iii)

for a student in category C, F11£4,286;

(iv)

for a student in category D, F12£3,600;

Y is the amount specified in paragraph (4).

(e)

where a 2012 student applies for a loan for living costs and opts not to provide the information needed to calculate the household income, the amount is—

(i)

for a student in category A, F13£2,871;

(ii)

for a student in category B, F14£5,038;

(iii)

for a student in category C, F15£4,290;

(iv)

for a student in category D, F16£3,610.

Subject to Chapter 4 of this Part, the maximum amount of loan for living costs for which a student with reduced entitlement qualifies in respect of an academic year that is the final year of a course that is not an intensive course is—

(a)

where the student does not qualify for a grant for living and other costs in relation to the academic year because of regulation 38(4)(a)—

(i)

for a student in category A, £1,324;

(ii)

for a student in category B, £2,498;

(iii)

for a student in category C or D, £1,811;

(b)

where the student does not qualify for a grant for living and other costs in relation to the academic year because of regulation 38(4)(b) or (6)—

(i)

for a student in category A, F17£1,337;

(ii)

for a student in category B, F18£2,522;

(iii)

for a student in category C, F19£2,051;

(iv)

for a student in category D, F20£1,829;

(c)

where the student, other than a 2009 or 2012 cohort student, applies for a loan for living costs and opts not to provide the information needed to calculate the household income an amount equal toXYmath where—

X is—

(i)

for a student in category A, F21£2,514;

(ii)

for a student in category B, F22£4,581;

(iii)

for a student in category C, F23£3,723;

(iv)

for a student in category D, F24£3,325;

Y is the amount specified in paragraph (3);

(d)

where a 2009 cohort student applies for a loan for living costs and opts not to provide the information needed to calculate the household income an amount equal toXYmath where—

X is—

(i)

for a student in category A, F25£2,532;

(ii)

for a student in category B, F26£4,586;

(iii)

for a student in category C, F27£3,726;

(iv)

for a student in category D, F28£3,332;

Y is the amount specified in paragraph (4).

(e)

where a 2012 cohort student applies for a loan for living costs and opts not to provide the information needed to calculate the household income, the amount is—

(i)

for a student in category A, F29£2,639;

(ii)

for a student in category B, F30£4,588;

(iii)

for a student in category C, F31£3,728;

(iv)

for a student in category D, F32£3,357.

The amount specified in this paragraph is—

(a)

F33£700 where the student is a type 1 teacher training student who opts not to provide the information needed to calculate the household income when applying for a maintenance grant and who qualifies for a maintenance grant of F33£700;

(b)

F34£1,400 where the student is a type 2 teacher training student who opts not to provide the information needed to calculate the household income when applying for a maintenance grant and who qualifies for a maintenance grant of F34£1,400;

(c)

nil where the student is not a type 1 or type 2 teacher training student.

(4)

The amount specified in this paragraph is—

(a)

F35£600 where the student is a type 1 teacher training student who opts not to provide the information needed to calculate the household income when applying for a maintenance grant and who qualifies for a maintenance grant of F35£600;

(b)

F36£1,200 where the student is a type 2 teacher training student who opts not to provide the information needed to calculate the household income when applying for a maintenance grant and who qualifies for a maintenance grant of F36£1,200;

(c)

nil where the student is not a type 1 or type 2 teacher training student.
