Coming into force
The Secretary of State, who is designated for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 19721 in relation to the control of the import and export of goods2, makes these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2(2) of and paragraph 1A of Schedule 2 to that Act3.
These Regulations make provision for a purpose mentioned in section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972 and it appears to the Secretary of State that it is expedient for any reference in these Regulations to any of the following EU instruments to be construed as a reference to that instrument as amended from time to time—
- a
Council Regulation (EC) No 2173/2005 on the establishment of a FLEGT licensing scheme for imports of timber into the European Community4, and
- b
Commission Regulation (EC) No 1024/2008 laying down detailed measures for the implementation of Council Regulation (EC) No 2173/20055.
