This Order brings into force on 3rd September 2012 certain provisions of the Education and Skills Act 2008 (“the 2008 Act”) as listed in Article 2.
Article 2 brings into force section 155 of the 2008 Act which amends section 444ZA of the Education Act 1996(1)(“the 1996 Act”) to make clearer how the criminal offence under section 444 of the 1996 Act (failure to secure regular attendance at school of registered pupil) applies to children who are receiving alternative educational provision. It also commences certain consequential amendments to take account of the extension of the offence.
