2.—(1) In these Regulations—
“the Act” means the Merchant Shipping Act 1995;
“the Directive” means Directive 2009/20/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23rd April 2009 on the insurance of shipowners for maritime claims(1);
“United Kingdom ship” means a ship registered in the United Kingdom under Part 2 of the Act.
(2) Expressions used in these Regulations and in the Directive have the same meaning as in the Directive.
