Insurance other than contracts of insurance5.
Where, to comply with regulation 4, a shipowner relies on insurance consisting of proved self insurance or financial security offering similar conditions of cover in respect of a ship—
(a)
the shipowner must provide documentary evidence of the existence of that insurance to the Secretary of State, and
(b)
that ship must not enter or leave a port in the United Kingdom unless the Secretary of State has confirmed in writing that the arrangements for self insurance or financial security offering similar conditions of cover are adequate.
