The Proscribed Organisations (Name Changes) (No. 2) Order 2014
In accordance with section 3(6)(a) of that Act, the Secretary of State believes that the organisation referred to in article 2 of this Order, being an organisation in Schedule 2 to that Act, is operating wholly or partly under a name that is not specified in that Schedule (whether as well as or instead of under the specified names).
1.
This Order may be cited as the Proscribed Organisations (Name Changes) (No. 2) Order 2014 and comes into force on the day after the day on which it is laid before Parliament.
2.
Part 2 of the Terrorism Act 2000 makes provision about proscribed organisations (including setting out offences in relation to such organisations in sections 11 to 13). An organisation is proscribed if it is listed in Schedule 2 to that Act or operates under the same name as an organisation so listed (section 3(1)).
Section 3(6) of the Terrorism Act 2000 (as inserted by section 22(2) of the Terrorism Act 2006) enables the Secretary of State, by order, to provide that a name that is not specified in Schedule 2 to that Act is to be treated as another name for an organisation that is listed in that Schedule. Article 2 of this Order specifies another name for the organisation referred to in article 2, which is listed in that Schedule as Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham) (Dawat al Islamiya fi Iraq wa al Sham (DAISh)).
