The Civil Aviation Act 2012 (Commencement No. 2) Order 2014

The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 110(1) and (6)(a) of the Civil Aviation Act 20121.

Citation and interpretation1

This Order may be cited as the Civil Aviation Act 2012 (Commencement No. 2) Order 2014.

In this Order “the 2012 Act” means the Civil Aviation Act 2012.

Provisions coming into force on 11th March 20142

Section 82 (transfer schemes) of the 2012 Act and Schedule 12 (aviation security: further provision about transfer schemes) to the 2012 Act come into force on 11th March 2014.

Provisions coming into force on 1st April 20143

The following provisions of the 2012 Act come into force on 1st April 2014—

a

section 78 (aviation security directions etc) and Schedule 11 (aviation security directions etc: minor and consequential amendments),

b

section 79 (approved providers of aviation security services),

c

section 80 (advice and assistance in connection with aviation security), and

d

section 81 (power to modify functions of CAAetc relating to aviation security).

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order brings into force those provisions of the Civil Aviation Act 2012 (c.19) not commenced by a previous commencement order. Section 82 and Schedule 12 will come into force on 11th March 2014. The remaining provisions of the 2012 Act not yet in force (namely section 78 and Schedule 11 and sections 79, 80 and 81) come into force on 1st April 2014. This does not include section 76 and Schedule 9 (for remaining purposes) and section 102, which nevertheless also come into force on 1st April 2014 in accordance with S.I. 2013/589 (C.23).
