SCHEDULE 3 Consequential amendments to Church of England legislation

Church of England Pensions Regulations 1988

5.  In the Church of England Pensions Regulations 1988, in regulation 2(1)(1) (interpretation)—

(a) after the definition of “scheme member” insert—

““spouse” and “surviving spouse” include a person who is or was married to a person of the same sex;”, and

(b) in the definition of “widow or widower”, in paragraph (a) after “person” insert “(whether of the same or opposite sex to the deceased)”.
