The General Osteopathic Council has made the General Osteopathic Council (Application for Registration and Fees) (Amendment) Rules 2014, which are set out in the Schedule to this Order, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 6(2) and (4), and 35(2) of the Osteopaths Act 1993(1).

By virtue of sections 35(1) and 36(1) of that Act, such Rules shall not come into force until approved by Order of the Privy Council.

Citation and commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the General Osteopathic Council (Application for Registration and Fees) (Amendment) Rules Order of Council 2014 and shall come into force on 1st May 2014.

SCHEDULEThe General Osteopathic Council (Application for Registration and Fees) (Amendment) Rules 2014

The General Osteopathic Council makes the following Rules in exercise of its powers under sections 6(2) and (4), and 35(2) of the Osteopaths Act 1993.

Citation, commencement and interpretation

1.—(1) These Rules may be cited as the General Osteopathic Council (Application for Registration and Fees) (Amendment) Rules 2014 and shall come into force on 1st May 2014.

(2) In these Rules “the Principal Rules” means the General Osteopathic Council (Application for Registration and Fees) Rules 2000(2).

Amendments to the Principal Rules

2.  In Part III of the Principal Rules—

(a)in rule 6(2)for—

(i)£340 substitute £320, and

(ii)£350 substitute £330;

(b)in rule 8(1) for—

(i)£610 substitute £570, and

(ii)£630 substitute £590;

(c)in rule 8(2) for—

(i)£340 substitute £320, and

(ii)£350 substitute £330;

(d)in rule 8(3) for—

(i)£455 substitute £430, and

(ii)£470 substitute £445;

(e)in rule 8(4) for—

(i)£230 substitute £215, and

(ii)£240 substitute £225;

(f)in rule 10(1), for £610 substitute £570;

(g)in rule 10(2), for £340 substitute £320;

(h)in rule 10(3), for £455 substitute £430.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

The Rules contained in the Schedule to this Order amend the General Osteopathic Council (Application for Registration and Fees) Rules as set out in the Schedule to the General Osteopathic Council (Application for Registration and Fees) Rules Order of Council 2000 (S.I. 2000/1038) by reducing, in certain circumstances, the “entry fee” payable by an Osteopath when first entered on to the register, by reducing the “retention fee” payable by an Osteopath in order to remain on the register subsequently, and by reducing the “restoration fee” payable by an Osteopath in order to have an entry restored to the register.

The entry fee payable under rule 6(2) is reduced from £340 to £320, and from £350 to £330 when paid in instalments.

The retention fee payable under–

(i)rule 8(1) is reduced from £610 to £570, and from £630 to £590 when paid in instalments;

(ii)rule 8(2) is reduced from £340 to £320, and from £350 to £330 when paid in instalments;

(iii)rule 8(3) is reduced from £455 to £430, and from £470 to £445 when paid in instalments; and

(iv)rule 8(4) is reduced from £230 to £215, and from £240 to £225 when paid in instalments.

The restoration fee payable under-

(i)rule 10(1) is reduced from £610 to £570;

(ii)rule 10(2) is reduced from £340 to £320; and

(iii)rule 10(3) is reduced from £455 to £430.
