The Secretary of State may authorise in writing any person (“an authorised person”) to act for the purpose of enforcing these Regulations.

A local authority in whose area a dog is kept may authorise in writing any person (“an authorised person”) to act for the purpose of enforcing these Regulations in its area.

Any police constable or community support officer is also an authorised person for the purposes of these Regulations.

In this regulation “community support officer” means anyone so designated under section 38(1) of the Police Reform Act 20029.
