Coming into force
The Secretary of State is designated1 for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 19722 in relation to the common agricultural policy of the European Union and makes these Regulations in exercise of those powers vested in her3, and the powers conferred by paragraph 1A of Schedule 2 to that Act4, and with the consent of the Treasury under section 56(1) of the Finance Act 19735.
These Regulations make provision for a purpose mentioned in section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972, and it appears to the Secretary of State that it is expedient for the references in these Regulations to the Annexes to Council Regulation (EC) No 1099/2009 of 24 September 2009 on the protection of animals at the time of killing6 to be construed as references to those Annexes as amended from time to time.
