The Social Action, Responsibility and Heroism Act 2015 (Commencement and Transitional Provision) Regulations 2015

The Secretary of State makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 5(2) and (3) of the Social Action, Responsibility and Heroism Act 2015(1):

Citation and interpretation

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Social Action, Responsibility and Heroism Act 2015 (Commencement and Transitional Provision) Regulations 2015.

(2) In these Regulations, “the Act” means the Social Action, Responsibility and Heroism Act 2015.

Appointed day

2.  The Act comes into force on 13th April 2015 so far as it is not already in force.

Transitional provision

3.  The Act only applies to a claim that a person was negligent or in breach of statutory duty where the act or omission giving rise to the claim occurs on or after 13th April 2015.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations bring sections 1 to 4 of the Social Action, Responsibility and Heroism Act 2015 (c.3) (“the Act”) into force on 13th April 2015. Section 5 of the Act, which contains the regulation making powers, came into force on the day on which the Act was passed.

Regulation 3 sets out the transitional provision. It provides that the Act only has effect where the act or omission that gives rise to the claim in negligence or breach of statutory duty occurs on or after the date of commencement.
