The Lifts (Amendment) Regulations 2016

The Secretary of State, who is a Minister designated1 for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 19722 in relation to measures relating to lifts and safety components for use in lifts, makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2(2) of that Act.

Citation and Commencement1

These Regulations may be cited as the Lifts (Amendment) Regulations 2016 and come into force on 8th December 2016.

Amendment to the Lifts Regulations 20162

In regulation 3(2)(a) of the Lifts Regulations 20163, for “on or after” substitute “before”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the Lifts Regulations 2016 (S.I. 2016/1093) to make clear that those Regulations apply to lifts and safety components for lifts placed on the market on or after 8th December 2016 (the commencement date for those Regulations), but do not apply to lifts and safety components for lifts placed on the market before that date.
