The Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster makes the following Rules in exercise of the powers conferred by section 36(2A) and (2B) of the Representation of the People Act 19831.

In accordance with section 7(1) and (2)(d) of the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 20002 the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster has consulted the Electoral Commission before making these Rules.
