This Order provides for the conferral of the functions of the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Authority (“the GMFRA”) on the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (“the GMCA”). This Order has been made following the publication on 30 June 2016 of a scheme for the conferral of further functions on the GMCA, including the functions of the GMFRA. In article 1(2) of the Local Government (Best Value Authorities)(Power to Trade)(England) Order 2009 (application of order to best value authorities) 24 the reference in paragraph (c) to a “metropolitan county fire and rescue authority” is to apply as if it included a reference to “the GMCA as a fire and rescue authority”.
