These Regulations bring into force section 43 of the Immigration Act 2016(1), which amends the Immigration Act 1971 to confer on immigration officers, constables and persons authorised by the Secretary of State the power to search for, seize and retain driving licences from persons whom they have reasonable grounds to believe are not lawfully resident in the United Kingdom. These Regulations bring section 43 into force in the police areas of Kent and West Yorkshire only.
