These Regulations bring into force specified provisions of the Policing and Crime Act 2017 (c. 3) (“the Act”). They are the eighth commencement regulations under the Act. Other provisions of the Act were brought into force on Royal Assent by section 183(5) of the Act or commenced on 31st March 2017 by virtue of section 183(6) of the Act.
Regulation 2 brings section 141 of the Act into force on 6th April 2018. Section 141 amends the Licensing Act 2003 (c. 17) to make provision for cumulative impact assessments.
Regulation 3 provides for the commencement, insofar as they are not already in force, of sections 25 to 27 of the Act, on 16th April 2018. These provisions amend the Police Reform Act 2002 (c. 30) to introduce a policing super-complaints system in England and Wales.
Regulation 4 brings section 131 of the Act into force on 17th April 2018. Section 131 amends the Firearms Act 1968 (c. 27) to enable firearm and shotgun certificates to be extended in limited circumstances.
