The Secretary of State makes these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 8(1) of the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 20181.

The requirements of paragraph 3(2) of Schedule 7 to that Act (relating to the appropriate Parliamentary procedure for these Regulations) have been satisfied.

Citation and commencement1

These Regulations may be cited as the Euratom Research and Training Programme (Revocation) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019 and come into force on exit day.

Revocations

Council Regulation (Euratom) 2018/1563 on the Research and Training Programme of the European Atomic Energy Community (2019-2020) complementing the Horizon 2020 Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, and repealing Regulation (Euratom) No. 1314/2013 is revoked.

Council Decision 2007/198/Euratom establishing the European Joint Undertaking for ITER and the Development of Fusion Energy and conferring advantages upon it is revoked.

Council Decision 2013/791/Euratom amending Decision 2007/198/Euratom establishing the European Joint Undertaking for ITER and the Development of Fusion Energy and conferring advantages upon it is revoked.

Council Decision 2015/224/Euratom amending Decision 2007/198/Euratom establishing the European Joint Undertaking for ITER and the Development of Fusion Energy and conferring advantages upon it is revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations revoke instruments deriving from EU legislation relating to the Euratom research and training programme. The revocations address failures of retained EU law to operate effectively and other deficiencies (in particular under section 8(2)(a) and (d) of the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018) arising from the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union.
