The Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Under Article 41 of the Charter of the United Nations the Security Council of the United Nations has, by a resolution adopted on 14th October 2006, called upon Her Majesty’s Government in the United Kingdom to apply certain measures to give effect to decisions of that Council in relation to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea(1):

Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred on Her by section 1 of the United Nations Act 1946(2) and section 63(3)(c) and (4) of the Sanctions and Anti-Money Laundering Act 2018(3), is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to make the following Order:

The Security Council of the United Nations adopted resolution 1718 (2006) on 14 October 2006 (“resolution 1718”). Paragraph 8(e) of resolution 1718 requires States to “take the necessary steps to prevent the entry into or transit through their territories of the persons designated by the Committee or by the Security Council as being responsible for, including through supporting or promoting, DPRK policies in relation to the DPRK’s nuclear-related, ballistic missile-related and other weapons of mass destruction-related programmes, together with their family members”.
