The Water Industry (Specified Infrastructure Projects) (English Undertakers) (Amendment) Regulations 2020

Coming into force in accordance with regulation 1(2)

The Secretary of State makes these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 36A and 213(2)(f) of the Water Industry Act 1991(1).

The Secretary of State has consulted in accordance with section 36G(2) of that Act(2).

A draft of these Regulations has been laid before and approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament pursuant to section 36G(1)(a) of that Act.

Citation and commencement

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Water Industry (Specified Infrastructure Projects) (English Undertakers) (Amendment) Regulations 2020.

(2) These Regulations come into force on the day after the day on which they are made.

Amendment of the Water Industry (Specified Infrastructure Projects) (English Undertakers) Regulations 2013

2.  Omit regulation 1(2) to (4) of the Water Industry (Specified Infrastructure Projects) (English Undertakers) Regulations 2013(3).

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the Water Industry (Specified Infrastructure Projects) (English Undertakers) Regulations 2013 (S.I. 2013/1582) (“the 2013 Regulations”).

Following a Post Implementation Review, the Secretary of State has decided that the 2013 Regulations should continue in force. Accordingly, these Regulations omit the sunsetting provision at regulation 1(2) to (4) of the 2013 Regulations. The Post Implementation Review is published at www.legislation.gov.uk. It is available from the Water Services Team, Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, 2 Marsham Street, SW1 4DF.

A full impact assessment has not been published for this instrument as it has no impact on the private sector, the voluntary sector or civil society organisations.
