Coming into force in accordance with regulation 1(1)
The Secretary of State makes these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 41(1) of the European Union (Withdrawal Agreement) Act 2020(1).
1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Health and Safety (Consequential Amendments) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020 and come into force immediately before IP completion day.
(2) Any amendment made by these Regulations has the same application and extent as the provision amended.
2. The Health and Safety (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2018(2) are amended in accordance with regulations 3 to 7.
3. In paragraph (2) of regulation 2 (amendment of the Offshore Installations and Pipeline Works (Management and Administration) Regulations 1995(3)), for “exit day” substitute “IP completion day”.
4. In paragraph (2) of regulation 3 (amendment of the Offshore Installations (Prevention of Fire and Explosion, and Emergency Response) Regulations 1995(4)), for “exit day” substitute “IP completion day”.
5. In paragraph (2) of regulation 4 (amendment of the Borehole Sites and Operations Regulations 1995(5)), for “exit day” substitute “IP completion day”.
6. In paragraph (2) of regulation 6 (amendment of the Offshore Installations and Wells (Design and Construction, etc.) Regulations 1996(6)), for “exit day” substitute “IP completion day”.
7.—(1) In paragraph (2) of regulation 8 (amendment of the Control of Artificial Optical Radiation at Work Regulations 2010(7)), for “exit day” substitute “IP completion day”.
(2) In paragraph (3) of regulation 8, for “exit day” substitute “IP completion day”.

These Regulations make consequential provision in exercise of the power in section 41(1) of the European Union (Withdrawal Agreement) Act 2020 (c. 1) (“the 2020 Act”). The Regulations amend the Health and Safety (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2018 (S.I. 2018/1370) (“the 2018 Regulations”) (which amend subordinate legislation in the field of health and safety), and substitute a number of references to “exit day” in those regulations with “IP completion day”.
The 2018 Regulations come into force on IP completion day by operation of paragraph 1 of Schedule 5 to the 2020 Act; the amendments made to the 2018 Regulations by these Regulations come into force immediately before IP completion day.
An impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as it has no or minimal impact on business, charities or voluntary bodies. A copy of the Explanatory Memorandum is published alongside the Regulations on www.legislation.gov.uk.
