These Regulations bring into force section 114 (qualifications relating to information technology: payment of tuition fees) of the Digital Economy Act 2017 (c. 30) on 1st August 2020.
Section 114 amends section 88(1) of, and Schedule 5 to, the Apprenticeships, Skills, Children and Learning Act 2009 (c. 22). The amended Act requires the Secretary of State to ensure that specified qualifications in information technology are free of charge, and provide facilities, for a person aged 19 or over, who does not already have the qualification in question or a comparable or higher level qualification, and who satisfies any conditions as may be specified in Regulations.
