The Treasury, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 9(1) of the Civil Liability Act 2018(1), make the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as The Civil Liability (Specification of Authorised Persons) Regulations 2021 and come into force on 31st May 2021.
2. Regulation 3 specifies the description of authorised persons for the purposes of the entry in column 2 of the table in section 9(1) of the Civil Liability Act 2018 corresponding to the Financial Conduct Authority.
3. The description is all authorised persons dealing with whiplash claims.

These Regulations specify the description of the persons regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority under section 9 of the Civil Liability Act 2018 (c. 29), in order to give effect to the restrictions on the settlement of whiplash claims, provided for in that Act. For the purposes of the Act, a regulated person is described as a person who is authorised under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (c. 8) and who deals with whiplash claims.
