The Secretary of State makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 1(4) and (5) of the Social Security (Additional Payments) Act 2022(1).
1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Social Security Additional Payments (Second Qualifying Day) Regulations 2022 and come into force on 24th October 2022.
(2) These Regulations extend to England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
2. 25th September 2022 is the second qualifying day for the purpose of the means-tested additional payments under sections 1 and 4 of the Social Security (Additional Payments) Act 2022.

These Regulations specify the second qualifying day for the purpose of the means-tested additional payments under sections 1 and 4 of the Social Security (Additional Payments) Act 2022 (“the Act”).
The specified day is 25th September 2022. As provided for by section 1(5) of the Act, this falls before the day on which these Regulations come into force.
A full impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no, or no significant, impact on the private, public or voluntary sectors is foreseen.
