EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

Section 5 of the Energy Prices Act 2022 (c. 44) provides for the establishment of schemes to reduce the amount that would otherwise be charged for domestic electricity and gas supply to customers in Northern Ireland. These Regulations define the terms “NI domestic electricity supply” (regulation 2) and “NI domestic gas supply” (regulation 3) for the purposes of the schemes which may be established under that section.

An impact assessment was produced for the Energy Prices Bill and is available from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, 1 Victoria Street, London SW1H 0ET. A full impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no, or no significant, impact on the private, voluntary or public sector is foreseen.
