Amendment to the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011

2.—(1) The Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011 are amended as follows.

(2) In regulation 3, for the definition of “the Directive” substitute—

the Directive” means Directive 2009/48/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18th June 2009 on the safety of toys(1);.

(3) In Part 3 (chemical properties) of Schedule 2 (particular safety requirements)—

(a)in the first table at point 11 (prohibited allergenic fragrances) after row 55 (treemoss extracts), insert—

(c)in the table at point 13, for the element in the first row (aluminium), substitute—

(4) At the end of the table in Appendix C to Schedule 2 (limit values for chemicals used in toys intended for use by children under 36 months or in other toys intended to be placed in the mouth) insert the following entries—

30 mg/kg after reductive cleavage in finger paints
10 mg/kg as free aniline in finger paints
