Representation Of The People

The Representation of the People and Recall Petition (Northern Ireland) (Amendment) Regulations 2023

Made

Coming into force

The Secretary of State makes these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by the provisions specified in Schedule 1.

The Secretary of State has consulted the Electoral Commission in accordance with section 53(5)(a) of the Representation of the People Act 19831 and section 7(2)(e) and (h) of the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 20002.

The Secretary of State has also consulted the Information Commissioner and such other persons as the Secretary of State considers appropriate, in accordance with section 53(5)(b) and (c) of the Representation of the People Act 1983.

In accordance with section 201(2) of the Representation of the People Act 1983, section 21(6) of the Recall of MPs Act 20153 and section 96(2) of the Northern Ireland Act 19984, a draft of this instrument was laid before and approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament.
