EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order gives effect to—

The recommendations in each report were created following a review by the relevant Boundary Commission of the representation of their respective part of the United Kingdom in the House of Commons.

Articles 2 to 5 of, and Schedules 1 to 4 to, this Order set out and describe the constituencies into which England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales respectively are divided.

Article 6 requires each electoral registration officer to re-arrange or adapt the registers of parliamentary electors as necessary to give effect to this Order.

Article 7 amends the Parliamentary Constituencies and Assembly Electoral Regions (Wales) Order 2006 (S.I. 2006/1041) to remove references to parliamentary constituencies from that Order which are redundant as a result of this Order. Article 8 contains consequential revocations.

By virtue of section 4(6) of the Parliamentary Constituencies Act 1986 (c. 50), the coming into force of this Order does not affect any parliamentary election until a proclamation is issued by His Majesty summoning a new Parliament or affect the constitution of the House of Commons until the dissolution of the Parliament then in being.
