The Secretary of State makes this Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 8 of the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986().
Citation, commencement and extent
1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 (Fees) Order 2024 and comes into force on 6th April 2024.
(2) This Order extends to England and Wales and Scotland.
Fee payable under the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986
2.—(1) The fee payable by the holder of a licence granted under section 2C of the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 (licensing of undertakings)() is to be determined as follows.
(2) For each period of 12 months beginning with 6th April, there is to be a fixed and a variable element of the fee.
(3) The fixed element is £1007, which is payable for a licence which is in force for the whole or any part of that period.
(4) The variable element is £329 for each person who, during the whole or any part of that period, holds a personal licence() which specifies the same establishment as that specified in the licence granted under section 2C as the place at which an undertaking can be carried on.
Revocation
3. The Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 (Fees) Order 2020() is revoked.

Explanatory Note
This Order prescribes the fees payable by the holder of a licence issued under section 2C of the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 (c.14). This Order increases the fixed element of the fee from £915 to £1007 and the variable element from £299 to £329.
