Amendment to the Criminal Justice Act 1987

7.  In section 2 of the Criminal Justice Act 1987(1) (Director’s investigation powers)—

(a) after subsection (1) insert—

“(1ZA) The powers of the Director under this section are also exercisable in any case in which it is necessary to exercise them for the purpose of complying with a direction given under section 5(5)(c) of the Crime and Courts Act 2013 (NCA’s power to direct persons to perform specified tasks).”;

(b) in subsection (1A), after “The authorities” insert “mentioned in subsection (1) which are”.

1987 c. 38; section 2 was amended by section 143 of the Criminal Justice Act 1988 (c. 33) and by section 164(2) of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 (c. 33) which inserted subsection (1A). There are other amendments not relevant to this instrument.
