Citation, commencement and extent

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the M621 Motorway (Speed Limit) Regulations 2024.

(2) They come into force on 25th June 2024.

(3) They extend to England and Wales.

Interpretation

2.  In these Regulations—

carriageway” has the same meaning as in the Motorways Traffic (England and Wales) Regulations 1982(1); and

M621” means the motorway known by that name.

Imposition of Speed Limits

3.—(1) Subject to regulation 4, no person may drive any vehicle at a speed exceeding 50 miles per hour on the lengths of road specified in Schedule 1 to these Regulations.

(2) Subject to regulation 4, no person may drive any vehicle at a speed exceeding 40 miles per hour on the lengths of road specified in Schedule 2 to these Regulations.

(3) Subject to regulation 4, no person may drive any vehicle at a speed exceeding 30 miles per hour on the lengths of road specified in Schedule 3 to these Regulations.

Exemption

4.  Regulation 3 does not apply in relation to a length of road if a speed restriction is in force there by virtue of an order or notice under section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(2).

Revocation

5.—(1) The M621 Motorway (Speed Limit) Regulations 2000(3) are revoked.

(2) The M621 Motorway (Speed Limit) (Amendment) Regulations 2007(4) are revoked.
