Subject to paragraphs (2), (3) and (4), the appraisal cycle for each school teacher shall be a continuous period of two years.

If the school teacher moves to a post in another school or to a new post as a head teacher, the appraisal cycle shall begin again.

If the school teacher moves to a new post in the same school the headteacher may determine that the appraisal cycle shall begin again.

If the school teacher becomes an acting head teacher the appraising body may determine that —
a
the appraisal cycle shall begin again; and
b
the school teacher shall be appraised as a head teacher.
