Mae Gorchymyn y Cwricwlwm Cenedlaethol (Trefniadau Asesu Cyfnod Allweddol 2) (Cymru) 2004 (“Gorchymyn 2004”) yn pennu'r trefniadau asesu ar gyfer yr ail gyfnod allweddol ac mae Gorchymyn y Cwricwlwm Cenedlaethol (Trefniadau Asesu Cyfnod Allweddol 3) (Cymru) 2005 (“Gorchymyn 2005”) yn pennu'r trefniadau asesu ar gyfer y trydydd cyfnod allweddol.
Mae Gorchymyn 2004 a Gorchymyn 2005 yn gosod dyletswydd ar athrawon i asesu disgyblion mewn ysgolion yng Nghymru ddim hwyrach na phythefnos cyn diwedd tymor yr haf. Mae'r Gorchymyn hwn yn diwygio'r ddarpariaeth honno yng Ngorchymyn 2004 a Gorchymyn 2005 fel bod rhaid i ddisgyblion gael eu hasesu ddim hwyrach nag ugain o ddiwrnodau gwaith cyn diwedd tymor yr haf.
