CHAPTER 2GRANTS FOR FEES

Subject to paragraph (2), a new system eligible student who is a 2012 cohort student qualifies in accordance with this regulation for a new fee grant in respect of, or otherwise in connection with, the 2012 cohort student’s attendance on a designated course provided by a publicly funded institution.

A new fee grant is not available in respect of an academic year if that year is a bursary year or an Erasmus year.

The maximum amount of new fee grant available under this regulation to a 2012 cohort student in respect of an academic year of a designated course where none of the circumstances in regulation 17(4) applies is the lesser of—
a
£5,425; or
b
the amount by which the fees payable by the applicant exceed £3,575.

The maximum amount of new fee grant available in respect of such an academic year under this regulation to a 2012 cohort student where one of the circumstances in regulation 17(4) applies is the lesser of—
a
£2,720; or
b
the amount by which the fees payable by the application exceed £1,780.
