In this Order—

• “the educational programmes” (“y rhaglenni addysgol”) means those educational programmes given legal effect by Part 1 of the National Curriculum (Educational Programmes for the Foundation Phase and Programmes of Study for the Second and Third Key Stages) (Wales) Order 2013 M1;

• “the programmes of study” (“y rhaglenni astudio”) means those programmes of study given legal effect by Part 2 of the National Curriculum (Educational Programmes for the Foundation Phase and Programmes of Study for the Second and Third Key Stages) (Wales) Order 2013;

• “the relevant areas of learning” (“y meysydd dysgu perthnasol”) means—

  1. a

     language, literacy and communication skills; and

  2. b

     mathematical development; and

• “the relevant subjects” (“y pynciau perthnasol”) means—

  1. a

     English;

  2. b

     Welsh; and

  3. c

     Mathematics.

Any reference in this Order to the foundation phase is to be interpreted in accordance with section 102 of the Education Act 2002.

Any references in this Order to the second and third key stages are to be interpreted in accordance with section 103(1)(b) and (c) of the Education Act 2002.
