CHAPTER 1AMENDMENTS TO THE EDUCATION (STUDENT SUPPORT) (WALES) REGULATIONS 2017

Amendments to the Education (Student Support) (Wales) Regulations 201740

The Education (Student Support) (Wales) Regulations 2017 are amended in accordance with regulations 41 to 43.

Amendments to regulation 241

In regulation 2 (interpretation), in paragraph (1), insert the following entries into the appropriate places—

  • “Common Aggregation Hierarchy” (“Hierarchiaeth Cydgasglu Cyffredin”) has the meaning given in regulation 81(29);

  • “Higher Education Classification of Subjects” (“Dosbarthiad Pynciau Addysg Uwch”) has the meaning given in regulation 81(29);

Amendments to regulation 8142

In regulation 81 (eligible part-time students)—

a

for paragraph (28) substitute—

28

A course is specified for the purpose of paragraph (27) if—

a

it is concerned with the study of the history, grammar and use of Welsh;

b

it is a course whose code and label under the Higher Education Classification of Subjects are listed in Schedule 7; or

c

the course is listed in the Higher Education Classification of Subjects in one of the Common Aggregation Hierarchy groups in Column 1 of Table A1 except for those subjects whose code and label under the Higher Education Classification of Subjects is specified in the corresponding entry in Column 2.

In this regulation, “the Common Aggregation Hierarchy” means version 1.3.3 of the Common Aggregation Hierarchy approved by the Higher Education Statistics Agency Data Landscape Steering Group7 and “the Higher Education Classification of Subjects” means the Higher Education Classification of Subjects maintained by the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service and the Higher Education Statistics Agency.
