Coming into force

The Welsh Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 36A(1) to (6) of the Representation of the People Act 19831, by paragraphs 4(2)(c) and 6(7) and (8) of Schedule 4 to the Representation of the People Act 20002 and by section 173(1) and (2) of the Local Government and Elections (Wales) Act 20213 make the following Regulations.

In accordance with section 7(1) and (2)(e) of the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 20004, the Welsh Ministers have consulted with the Electoral Commission. In accordance with section 36A(7) of the Representation of the People Act 1983, the Welsh Ministers have also consulted such other persons as they considered appropriate.

In accordance with sections 36A(10) and 201(2) of the Representation of the People Act 19835, a draft of this instrument has been laid before, and approved by a resolution of, Senedd Cymru6.
