The Scottish Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 50 of the Local Government in Scotland Act 2003(1), and all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the Local Government in Scotland Act 2003 (Principal Teachers) Order 2003, and shall come into force on 10th February 2004.

Substitution of period of suspension of requirement to advertise principal teacher posts

2.  For the period specified in section 50(2) of the Local Government in Scotland Act 2003 there is substituted the period of four years.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

The Order substitutes for the period specified in section 50 of the Local Government in Scotland Act 2003 during which the requirement of section 87A of the Education (Scotland) Act 1980 to advertise a vacant principal teacher post is suspended, the period of 4 years.
